A one-month-before guide through Emirati family life, food, coffee, dates, gifts, honey and the seven emirates.

One month before Ramadan 2027 in the UAE
Ramadan in the UAE begins before the first fast. Mid-Sha’ban brings Hag Al Laila, children, sweets and neighbourhood doors. Then homes begin thinking about the first family iftar, work schedules, Qur’an, gifts, dates, coffee and the people who should not be forgotten.
I have known the UAE for years, and the more I leave the obvious postcard, the more the country opens. Dubai matters, but so do Hatta, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, the east coast, Abu Dhabi’s islands and the quiet roads between them.
When is Ramadan 2027 in the UAE?
Ramadan follows the lunar calendar, so current estimates place Ramadan 2027 in early February. The official UAE beginning will depend on the crescent and the competent authorities.
Plan flights, work and corporate gifts around the expected period, but update the article when the official date is announced.
Hag Al Laila: preparation begins in Sha’ban
Official UAE guidance describes Hag Al Laila around the middle of Sha’ban: Emirati children wear traditional clothes, visit neighbouring homes, sing and receive sweets and nuts.
I like that preparation begins with children and neighbours. Before the month asks adults to fast, the culture reminds the street to open its doors.
The first iftar belongs to family
UAE government guidance describes a beautiful custom: on the first evening, the family gathers at the family home, usually the grandfather’s house.
That one detail tells us more about Ramadan than a hundred luxury buffet advertisements. The centre is not a hotel lobby. It is the family.
Meskaoui
“The gift can make someone smile, yes. But hospitality is bigger than the gift, because a smile given with love can remain after the box is empty.”
— Meskaoui
Dubai before Ramadan
Dubai can move at extraordinary speed. Sheikh Zayed Road, Downtown, Business Bay, Jumeirah, Marina, Deira and Bur Dubai seem to belong to different cities, yet Ramadan changes the rhythm of all of them.
The useful preparation is not to buy everything. It is to remove unnecessary decisions before the month begins.
Downtown Dubai
Downtown gives Ramadan its spectacular side: towers, restaurants, hotels, lights and visitors from everywhere. Enjoy it. Architecture can genuinely make us stop and look.
But the Burj Khalifa does not make the date sweeter. The person sitting opposite you might.
Jumeirah
Jumeirah brings beaches, villas, hotels and some of Dubai’s most polished dining rooms. A luxury iftar in Jumeirah can be wonderful when the kitchen cooks with care.
Price can buy ingredients, service and a view. It cannot guarantee the intention of a chef or the warmth of a table.
Dubai Marina
Dubai Marina is another artery worth exploring rather than reducing Dubai to Downtown. Walk, eat somewhere new, hear different languages and watch families and visitors share the same evening city.
For me, discovery is a form of wealth. I do not want to eat the same rice every day if tomorrow I can discover noodles. Hahaha.
Deira and Naif
Then cross mentally to Deira and Naif, where the scale changes. Markets, perfumes, spices, textiles, restaurants and older commercial streets remind us that Dubai existed before its newest skyline.
Ramadan SEO can say Dubai. A real story should also say where inside Dubai.
Bur Dubai and the Creek
Bur Dubai and the Creek carry trading memory, abras, old neighbourhoods and communities that brought food traditions from across the region and beyond.
A Ramadan evening here can teach more about Dubai’s diversity than a generic list of ten best iftars.
The desert
And then I leave the city. The desert gives me another luxury: silence, camels, horses, fire, stars and a majlis where the cup is small but the sky is enormous.
Sometimes I would rather put down the fork, use my fingers, dip bread into olive oil or honey and drink Arabic coffee slowly.
Two kinds of luxury
I enjoy the hotel sometimes. I enjoy the architecture, the pool, the view and the work of a talented chef. Then another day I want sand and silence.
These are not enemies. One lets me enjoy what people built. The other lets me remember what existed before us.
Hatta
Hatta is one of the places that breaks the stereotype of Dubai. Mountains replace towers, farms and wadis enter the landscape, and beekeeping becomes a real local story.
This is why Hatta matters to MESKI. We have returned to its honey story repeatedly because bees belong naturally in these mountains.
Hatta Sidr honey
Sidr honey in Hatta should never be reduced to a luxury keyword. First there is the tree, flowering, bees, beekeeper, season and mountain environment. Only afterward comes the jar.
If you search for Sidr honey Dubai or Hatta honey, ask where it was harvested and who can explain its origin.
Samar honey UAE
Samar is another Gulf honey that deserves space beside Sidr. Search demand may favour Sidr, but nature does not organise itself according to keyword volume.
A serious honey culture learns more than the most famous name.
Ghaf and the Emirati landscape
The ghaf belongs to the UAE landscape and national identity. Bees can forage across different environments and seasons, so the country’s honey story is broader than one floral source.
The honest approach is always origin first, marketing second.
Arabic coffee in the UAE
Emirati gahwa is a ritual of hospitality. Abu Dhabi’s official cultural guidance describes beans roasted, ground and brewed, often with cardamom and saffron, served from a dallah in small handleless cups.
The cup is deliberately small. Hospitality does not need a litre to prove generosity.
Coffee etiquette
Traditionally the dallah is held in the left hand and the cup offered with the right; the eldest or most important guest is served first, and the cup is only partly filled so it can be refilled.
These gestures turn coffee into a language. You can drink the same beans elsewhere and still miss the conversation.
Dates and gahwa
Dates beside Arabic coffee are one of the simplest images of Gulf hospitality. During Ramadan they also connect naturally with breaking the fast.
This is why dates, coffee and honey make sense together in an article without forcing a shop into every paragraph.
The majlis
A majlis is not simply a furniture style copied into a hotel. It is a place for receiving, speaking, listening and serving.
You can make a beautiful majlis at home before Ramadan, but leave enough room for people. The cushions are not the guests.
Iftar in the UAE
Official UAE guidance notes dates and laban among traditional ways of breaking the fast, while harees and thareed remain familiar Ramadan dishes.
The modern UAE table can also contain foods from India, Pakistan, the Levant, North Africa, the Philippines and many other communities. That diversity is part of today’s country.
Harees
Harees is slow food: wheat and meat cooked into a comforting dish associated with Ramadan and communal tables.
It is almost the opposite of Dubai speed, which may be why it belongs so well in the month.
Thareed
Thareed brings bread and stew together and remains one of the Emirati dishes associated with Ramadan.
Bread absorbing broth is not a luxury technique. It is exactly the kind of simple intelligence traditional kitchens preserve.
Luqaimat
Luqaimat brings the sweet side: small fried dumplings served with syrup or date molasses depending on preparation.
Ramadan has enough sweetness already, but nobody has ever convinced a family table of that. Hahaha.
The iftar cannon
The Midfa Al Iftar, the Ramadan cannon, remains a visible UAE tradition signalling sunset and the moment of breaking the fast.
Children can hear one sound and remember it for years. Culture often survives through things that are impossible to put into a shopping bag.
Ramadan gifts Dubai
Ramadan gifts in Dubai range from dates and coffee to perfume, oud, honey, sweets and elaborate corporate boxes. Start with the person, not the box.
A gift for an employee, a client, a family member and a VIP does not need the same architecture.
Corporate Ramadan gifts UAE
Companies ordering in volume should begin early. Confirm quantities, recipients, delivery addresses, customisation and deadlines before the last rush.
Logistics is not romantic, but late delivery can destroy all the romance of a beautiful gift.
Luxury Ramadan gifts Dubai
Gold details, rare ingredients and elegant packaging can be appropriate for a VIP gift. But luxury becomes empty when the inside cannot explain itself.
If the honey is poor, gold cannot rescue it. If the honey is excellent, gold should celebrate it rather than distract from it.
Honey gifts Dubai
Honey works naturally as a Ramadan gift because it can be shared and used after the occasion. Sidr, Samar or another origin should be chosen for traceability and taste before decoration.
MESKI can sell honey and still tell you to compare. Trust grows when a merchant is not frightened by questions.
Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi gives Ramadan another scale: family homes, mosques, Corniche evenings, cultural spaces, hotels, restaurants, islands and desert beyond the city.
I like to walk through it without declaring one restaurant permanently best. Today rice, tomorrow noodles, another day meat. Why close the door?
Best iftar Abu Dhabi?
People will search best iftar Abu Dhabi 2027. I understand the question, but no restaurant owns the title forever. Chefs change, menus change, service changes and we change.
Try one place, then another. A favourite is wonderful. Curiosity is also wonderful.
Abu Dhabi Ramadan dining
Abu Dhabi’s official visitor guidance describes iftars and suhoors across restaurants and hotels, with Emirati dishes alongside regional and international food.
That mixture fits the city. Hospitality can protect tradition while welcoming another cuisine to the same night.
Al Ain
Al Ain brings oasis life into the UAE Ramadan story. Palms, falaj irrigation, older neighbourhoods and the slower feeling of an inland city make it different from the coast.
A date tastes differently in the mind when you have walked beneath palms.
Ras Al Khaimah
Ras Al Khaimah brings mountains, sea and desert together. Its heritage includes mountain, coastal and desert communities, each with distinct histories.
For our SEO map, RAK is not a side note. It is another artery connecting UAE food, heritage, coffee, dates and nature.
Fujairah and the east coast
Fujairah and the east coast remind us that the UAE also faces the Gulf of Oman. Mountains reach toward the sea, and the visual language changes again.
Drive far enough from Dubai and the country keeps correcting the idea that it is only towers.
Khorfakkan and Kalba
Khorfakkan and Kalba add coves, mountains and mangrove environments to the eastern story. A Ramadan day trip should respect fasting rhythms and local customs, then allow the evening to unfold naturally.
Not every discovery needs a reservation.
Seven emirates
The UAE is seven emirates, not one city. Dubai may dominate international searches, but Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah each widen the cultural map.
SEO can begin at the heart. Good editorial work builds the arteries.
Family invitations
A family invitation is not a restaurant booking. Arrive with respect, follow the host, accept coffee with the right hand and observe before assuming.
Your presence may be enough; hospitality is not an invoice that requires an equal gift.
Visitors during Ramadan
Non-Muslim visitors can experience the UAE during Ramadan. Daytime dining is available in many places, particularly in contemporary Dubai and Abu Dhabi, but respect for those fasting and for local customs remains important.
Do not treat Ramadan as an inconvenience in your holiday schedule. You may discover a different UAE because of it.
Do not photograph everything
If you enter a private majlis or family home, ask before photographing people. A beautiful table does not automatically become public content.
Some invitations become more precious because no camera interrupted them.
Charity
Ramadan places generosity and concern for people in need at the centre. Choose verified charitable channels and plan giving rather than forwarding every emotional request that appears on a phone.
Good intention deserves good verification.
Family ties
Call parents and grandparents. Visit relatives. If a relationship can be repaired safely and fairly, take a first step. If you caused harm, an apology should include responsibility.
Ramadan can soften hearts, but it should never be used to pressure somebody to ignore serious harm.
The person far from home
Dubai and Abu Dhabi are full of people whose families live in another country. Invite the colleague who will otherwise break the fast alone. Ask the neighbour whose parents are far away.
A city of millions can still contain lonely tables.

What families carry
People bring recipes, perfumes, honey, coffee, poetry, names and memories when they leave home. Today Dubai can import almost anything.
Yet we still ask our mother to bring that particular jar or spice, because sometimes we want the memory attached to the taste.
Ramadan events Dubai 2027
People will search Ramadan events Dubai 2027, Ramadan markets Dubai and things to do during Ramadan. Exact 2027 programmes should be added only when organisers publish them.
A guide can rank because it is useful. It does not need fictional foresight.
Ramadan events Abu Dhabi 2027
The same rule applies to Abu Dhabi. Ramadan regularly brings community events, markets, charity initiatives, iftars and suhoors, but specific 2027 names and dates must be verified close to publication.
We can prepare the structure now and update the calendar later.
Shopping one month before
Buy sensible quantities of dates, coffee, dry ingredients, honey if your household uses it, and gifts requiring customisation. Leave fresh food for later.
Open the cupboard before opening the shopping app.
Prepare the house
Clean, organise and create a comfortable place for family and guests. A small majlis corner can be lovely, but it does not need to look like a luxury hotel.
A home should welcome people, not intimidate them.
Prepare the heart
Begin a manageable Qur’an routine, review prayer and sleep schedules, reduce one distraction, call someone and decide where charity will go.
The pantry is easier to organise than the heart. Do both.
The first evening
When Ramadan is officially announced, stop preparing and begin living it. Family, prayer, dates, water, perhaps laban, and gratitude are enough for the first moment.
The month does not need a launch event in your living room.
Suhoor
Suhoor can be simple and calm. Eat and hydrate according to your needs, and seek professional medical advice for individual health conditions.
Dates and honey are foods, not permission for me to prescribe medicine.
The last ten nights
Leave space for worship and Laylat Al Qadr. If every evening is filled with restaurants, events and meetings, the calendar has forgotten the spiritual centre.
A blank space can be one of the most important appointments.
Eid 2027 UAE
Eid al-Fitr 2027 will be confirmed according to the lunar calendar and official UAE announcement. Clothes, gifts and travel can be prepared early without allowing Eid shopping to consume the final nights.
Eid will arrive, inshallah. Ramadan deserves to finish first.
Meskaoui
“My wealth may be a quiet majlis in the desert, coffee in my hand and stars above me. Yours may be a pool overlooking the Palm. Neither is wrong. The real poverty would be refusing to discover what makes another person happy.”
— Meskaoui
When Ramadan 2027 arrives
When the month comes, enjoy the UAE in layers. Pray, visit family, share food, discover a neighbourhood, try a new chef, return to an old majlis, drive toward mountains, and sometimes stay home.
Dubai can give us architecture that fills the eyes. The desert can give us silence that empties the noise. I want room for both.
Dubai is an international Ramadan table
One reason I enjoy eating around Dubai is that a single week can move from Emirati food to Yemeni, Omani, Saudi, Moroccan, Levantine, Indian, Pakistani, Persian, East African or Southeast Asian kitchens. Ramadan does not erase this diversity. After sunset, it can make it more visible.
I have favourites, but I do not want my favourites to become walls. A city this diverse is an invitation to remain curious.
Old Dubai and new Dubai do not need to compete
I can admire Downtown at night and still love the Creek. I can enjoy Jumeirah and then walk through Deira. The mistake is believing appreciation requires choosing one Dubai and rejecting the other.
The city became interesting precisely because several histories and ambitions sit beside each other.
Dates as a UAE gift
Dates are practical Ramadan gifts because they are shared at iftar and served with coffee. UAE shops offer everything from simple local packs to highly designed luxury boxes.
Choose the fruit first. A beautiful box is useful only if people are happy to open it again tomorrow.
Coffee as a corporate gift
Arabic coffee can accompany dates or honey in a corporate Ramadan gift, especially when the recipient understands the ritual around the dallah and finjan. Explain the origin or preparation briefly rather than filling the package with marketing language.
A cultural product deserves cultural context.
Ramadan honey and breakfast after the month
A jar of honey does not have to disappear during Ramadan. It can remain for breakfast, bread, yoghurt, cooking or later family visits. That makes it different from a purely decorative seasonal object.
I like gifts that continue their life after the occasion.
Food waste
Generosity does not require food waste. Estimate guest numbers, store leftovers safely and use appropriate redistribution channels where available. A generous table can still be thoughtful.
Respect for food should survive the photograph.
Children and the memory of Ramadan
Hag Al Laila, the cannon, family iftar, sweets, visits and late evenings can become childhood anchors. Let children participate in simple ways: arrange dates, greet guests, prepare a gift for grandparents or help with a charitable act.
They may forget the decoration and remember who laughed with them.
The UAE beyond luxury
Luxury is genuinely part of the contemporary UAE and there is no need to pretend otherwise. The country also contains farms, fishermen, mountains, mangroves, desert camps, old markets, oases and family homes.
Writing only one side is not criticism or praise. It is simply incomplete.
One month before: make the people list
After the shopping list, write a people list: parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, neighbours, colleagues far from home, someone ill, someone grieving, someone you have neglected.
If Ramadan preparation improves the pantry but not a single relationship, perhaps one list is missing.
One week before
Check deliveries, corporate gifts, pantry quantities and family invitations. Do not repurchase everything because Ramadan displays have become more beautiful. Leave fresh ingredients until they are actually needed.
The purpose of starting early was to make this week calmer.
Ramadan on Sheikh Zayed Road
Sheikh Zayed Road is almost a symbol of the UAE’s acceleration: towers, hotels, offices and traffic joining old and new business districts. During Ramadan, even this commercial spine feels the shift in working hours, sunset movement and late-night dining.
I like the contrast. A road built for speed enters a month that repeatedly asks people to stop.
Ramadan near the Burj Khalifa
Visitors searching Ramadan Burj Khalifa or Downtown Dubai iftar are often looking for the spectacular. There is nothing wrong with that. Seeing the skyline illuminated from a beautiful table can be a genuine memory.
Just remember that the UAE’s Ramadan story cannot fit inside the world’s tallest building, however tall it is.
The Palm and Atlantis
Palm Jumeirah and Atlantis represent another face of Dubai luxury. Ramadan dining there can combine architecture, hospitality and ambitious kitchens. Sometimes I want exactly that: to enjoy what people have imagined and built.
Then I may want the opposite the next day: no tower, no valet, just sand, coffee and stars. My life has room for both.
Why I will not publish a permanent best restaurant in Dubai
Searches for best restaurant Dubai, best iftar Dubai and best Ramadan buffet Dubai are enormous because people want a shortcut. I can recommend experiences, but I resist declaring one eternal winner.
A chef who cooks with love in a modest restaurant may give me more joy than a famous dining room on the wrong night. Try. Change. Discover.
Ramadan food in a city of many homes
Dubai’s population has brought family dishes from across the world. One colleague may think of harees, another biryani, another soup from the Levant, another harira from Morocco, another a dish from Manila or Khartoum.
The shared sunset does not require a shared recipe. That is one of the beautiful things about the UAE today.
Sharjah
Sharjah deserves its own place in a UAE Ramadan guide because culture, museums, family neighbourhoods, mosques and community life give it a character distinct from neighbouring Dubai.
If you live in Dubai, crossing an emirate boundary can be a much smaller journey than flying abroad and still teach you something new.
Ajman and Umm Al Quwain
Ajman and Umm Al Quwain are often ignored by international guides chasing the largest attractions. That is exactly why they belong here. Smaller scale can reveal another rhythm of Gulf life, waterfronts and family evenings.
The seven-emirate story becomes credible only when we remember the emirates with lower search volume too.
Abu Dhabi beyond the Corniche
Abu Dhabi city is only part of the emirate. Al Ain, Al Dhafra, Liwa and the long desert geography change the meaning of distance, palms and hospitality.
A Ramadan guide should be able to leave the Corniche and keep writing.
Liwa and the date palm
Liwa’s relationship with date palms is not a decorative theme. Abu Dhabi celebrates date culture through agricultural traditions and festivals, and the oasis landscape reminds us why dates became so central to life in arid environments.
When a date reaches an iftar table, a whole agricultural history can sit inside one bite.
From date palm to gift box
Luxury date boxes in Dubai and Abu Dhabi can be beautiful, but I prefer knowing something about the fruit inside: variety, origin, texture and freshness. Packaging should protect and present, not replace the product.
The same principle applies to honey, coffee and almost everything we sell as a gift.
From Hatta bee to Dubai gift table
This journey fascinates me because it joins two Dubais people rarely place together. In the mountains a bee works among flowering plants. Later a jar may appear on a polished table in Jumeirah or Downtown.
The luxury object and the natural origin are not opposites if we refuse to forget the second while admiring the first.
Best honey Dubai is the beginning of a question
If you type best honey Dubai, Google will show many sellers claiming purity, rarity and premium origins. Instead of asking only who says best most loudly, ask what can be traced.
Where was it harvested? What floral origin is claimed? Who packed it? Can the seller explain the season? A good question is often more useful than another gold badge.
Yemeni Sidr honey in Dubai
Dubai is also a major market for Yemeni Sidr honey, especially famous origins such as Do’ani. That honey should not be confused with Emirati Sidr simply because both carry the Sidr name.
Origin matters. Yemen, Oman, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Morocco can all tell different Sidr stories.
Omani honey in the UAE
Omani Sidr and Samar also circulate in the UAE market. This regional movement is natural: the Gulf has long been connected by families, trade, food and shared hospitality customs.
A Dubai shelf can therefore become a map of Arabia if the labels are honest enough.
Ramadan gift does not mean expensive gift
A box of good dates, a jar of honey, coffee or a thoughtful book can carry more meaning than an oversized hamper. The recipient should feel considered, not measured.
The gift makes a smile. The relationship gives the smile somewhere to live.
Employee gifts
For employees, useful and shareable gifts often make sense. Remember that UAE workplaces are culturally diverse, so avoid assuming every household wants exactly the same products or message.
A respectful corporate gift begins by remembering there are people behind the spreadsheet.
Clients and VIPs
A client or VIP gift may justify more refined materials, personalisation or rarer products. Still, do not confuse weight with value. A huge box can become a storage problem five minutes after the photograph.
Luxury should edit, not merely add.
Perfume, oud and bakhoor
Fragrance belongs naturally to Gulf hospitality and festive life. Oud, bakhoor and perfume can complement a Ramadan or Eid gift when chosen with care.
Scent is powerful because it behaves like food: years later, one note can reopen a room in memory.
Ramadan and the mosque
For Muslims, all these meals, gifts and city nights remain around a spiritual centre: fasting, prayer, Qur’an, charity and the search for Laylat Al Qadr in the final nights.
If an article about Ramadan becomes only a dining guide, it has described the evening and missed the month.
Ramadan for a new UAE resident
If 2027 is your first Ramadan living in the UAE, ask colleagues about working rhythms and local etiquette before the month. Observe how your building, neighbourhood and workplace change.
You do not need to know everything immediately. Respectful curiosity is a very good beginning.
Ramadan for tourists
Visitors can still eat, stay in hotels, explore attractions and dine during Ramadan, with contemporary Abu Dhabi guidance explicitly noting daytime restaurant access. Yet the more interesting approach is not simply asking what remains open.
Ask what becomes visible only during Ramadan: the cannon, family evenings, special foods, charity and a city awake at different hours.
Night is not only consumption
Ramadan nights can become a chain of malls, restaurants, markets and purchases if we let them. Leave nights for a walk, mosque, family, conversation or nothing at all.
Dubai can sell you something every minute. You are allowed to enjoy the city without buying every minute.
The UAE where our affection grew
After years of returning, I do not love the UAE because it matches one image. I love that I can still be surprised by it. A mountain road in Hatta, mangroves, a majlis, an old market, a new tower, a beekeeper, a coffee ritual.
The country becomes richer when I stop asking it to be only Dubai, and Dubai becomes richer when I stop asking it to be only Downtown.
