The Dark Treasure of the Island of Beauty

Born Between the Mediterranean Sea and the Wild Corsican Mountains

Not every honey is floral. Some are shaped by forests, bark, resin and the silence of the maquis.

Corsican Maquis Honeydew Honey is a rare, dark and intensely aromatic honey produced in one of the Mediterranean’s most distinctive landscapes. Its colour moves from warm amber to deep brown. Its flavour unfolds slowly through malt, caramel, liquorice and noble woody notes.

Protected by the AOP “Miel de Corse — Mele di Corsica”, this 400 g jar reflects a preserved island terroir, a seasonal harvest and a honey profile made for those who seek depth rather than simple sweetness.

Raw. AOP certified. Organic certified. Selected for character.

أرض برّية

The Terroir

The Maquis Does Not Produce Ordinary Honey

Corsica is an island of contrasts: sea and mountain, sun and shadow, aromatic scrubland and dense woodland. The maquis grows wild across this landscape, carrying the scents of cistus, myrtle, oak and sun-warmed vegetation.

Between May and September, bees move through this preserved ecosystem and collect the natural honeydew found on the surrounding plants. Unlike a classic blossom honey, this honey is not born primarily from flower nectar.

That difference is essential. Honeydew gives the honey its darker colour, its structured texture and its profound, almost forest-like aromatic identity.

سرّ المنّ

The Secret of Honeydew

A Honey Born Beyond the Flower

Most honeys begin with blossom nectar. Honeydew honey follows another path. Bees collect naturally occurring droplets found on trees and vegetation, then transform them into a honey of exceptional depth.

This origin gives Corsican maquis honeydew honey a profile that feels darker, less overtly floral and more structured than many conventional honeys.

Its sweetness is present, but never simple. It carries the memory of bark, warm earth, caramelised fruit and Mediterranean woodland.

Questions About Corsican Honeydew Honey

What makes honeydew honey different from blossom honey?

Blossom honey is produced primarily from flower nectar. Honeydew honey is made from naturally occurring droplets collected by bees on trees and vegetation. This often gives it a darker colour, a denser texture and a more malty, woody and less overtly floral profile.

What does the AOP “Miel de Corse” designation guarantee?

The AOP identifies honey whose origin and production are linked to Corsica and whose characteristics follow the requirements of the protected designation. It connects the product to a defined terroir and recognised production standards.

Is this honey very sweet?

It is naturally sweet, but its flavour is more structured than a simple floral honey. Malt, caramel, liquorice and woody notes give it balance and depth.

Which cheeses pair best with Corsican honeydew honey?

Its intensity works particularly well with aged sheep’s cheese, blue cheese, mature hard cheeses and other savoury cheeses with enough character to match it.

Can the texture change over time?

Yes. Natural honey may evolve in texture or crystallise according to its composition, storage conditions and season. This does not necessarily indicate spoilage or reduced quality.

Who is this honey best suited for?

It is ideal for experienced honey lovers, cheese enthusiasts, chefs and anyone looking for a darker, more gastronomic honey with a long aromatic finish.
